Gen-fukei | 原風景: Kiryu Saien 11, former textile factory 桐生再演11ー街における試みー旧東洋紡織工場
2005; installation インスタレーション; 素材：silkscreen printing on cotton, metal umbrella frames; サイズ：flexible サイズ可変; Kiryu is a city in east of Gunma prefecture 100 km far from Tokyo.
For over a millennium, Kiryu's principal industry was textile manufacturing, primarily silk. But now it has been out of use because in China is more cheeper. It was family business, so there were so many factories next to their homes. The sound of loom was pleasant in the area. And now, those beautiful wooden buildings have decreased.
I took photos of those factories, and print those images on white cotton by silk screen printing, then make its umbrellas. It could be portable like one's memory. I exhibited in one of textile industry which is also out of use.

紡織で栄えた桐生市内には、産業の衰退と共に失われつつあるノコギリ屋根の紡織工場が街中に点在している。その工場郡を一棟ずつ撮影し、シルクスクリーンにより像を施した傘は、街から工場のある風景を切り抜いたように持ち運ぶことができる。撮影したうちの一棟の工場を会場として展示した。
